Aquarius Star, Kuta - Sunday 17/12/78 - sunny & hot

We went to the beach at Padma at 8am and stayed until midday. Even though the sellers can be very annoying, it is great to be continually offered cold drinks. The surf was a fair bit bigger today. We went back to the room and slept until 3 pm. I went for a walk to buy some postcards. We then cut up a pineapple we had bought and ate it with Ann and Jeff. We rode the bikes to the beach to watch the sunset and there were absolutely stacks of people there. They come in busloads from Sanur to watch the sun set over the water. Tonight 11 of us went out to dinner at a restaurant at Legian for a suckling pig. There was Brad, me, Noel, Les, Brenda, Peter, Geday and 4 others. A few of them had travelled overland from London and a few were on their way over. We had a very peppery vegetable soup and then the pig. We had a look at it while it was still turning on the spit in the backyard. First of all we had the crackling and then the meat and stuffing. I loved the crackling, but the meat was ruined by the spicy stuffing. Then we had fruit salad for dessert. It ended up costing 1200 rup per head. It was a really good night talking to everyone on their travels.
