Coconut Grove Hotel - Sunday 10/12/78 - sunny

Today I woke up at 5.30 am due to the roosters crowing and came down and wrote some letters. We had the usual breakfast on our front porch of pawpaw, lemon pancakes and cheese jaffles. We decided today that we would make a trip to Ubud where we would next be staying. It was 25 km from Denpasar and the trip was very interesting as the countryside was so different. There were lots of terraced rice fields and little bridges over deep ravines. We drove through Celuk a little village where there are lots of gold and silversmiths. We came to Ubud which is a nice little village and found the 2 places where we could stay. We will go up tomorrow to stay. I bought l more piece of material. When we got back we went to the "Arena" for lunch of tomato and cheese omelette and a T-bone steak. Then we went back to the hotel, lay by the pool, swam and read. Maria came around with 2 more shirts for Brad and 2 pairs of board shorts. After reading my book in 1 day I had a headache and went to bed. I woke up at 7pm and we went for dinner at Raouls & Dragons and had some beautiful sweet and sour pork between us. Earlier in the afternoon an Australian woman had come up to us and asked if we would lend her our ticket so she could send some clothes back home. We said no in case she was also smuggling in drugs.
