Chuckanut Drive and Benaiah's 5th Birthday

Brilliant blue sky day with no clouds – time for sightseeing & adventure and it was Benaiahs birthday

Brad & I took out Nick, Alaiya & Benaiah out for the day. We went to the 8.30am service at Mars Hill Church in Belleview which was awesome. Mark Driscoll is a phenomenol preacher.

Drove north from Belleview up to Chuckanut Drive which hugs the coast of Puget Sound overlooking the San Juan islands. We were just below the Canadian border. It was the first time I had been able to see the the ring of mountains that surrounds Seattle. There were the Cascade mountains to the north & east, Mt Rainier to the South & Olympia Mountains to the west. They were all snow covered- stunning view.

We drove past some fields full of thousands of canadian geese on the ground. The drive was very pretty looking down hundreds of feet to the water below and out to all the islands. We stopped at Wildcat Cove & went on to the beach & looked for star fish in the rock pools. Like many of these beaches there were logs washed up on the beach. One of them had the age rings that you could easily count & it was over 200 years old & the trunk was not really that huge.

Driving the 2 hours back south we could see majestic Mt Rainier looming all the way back. Past the city we went west over to Alki Beach to watch the sunset and see great views back to the city and over to the Olympic Peninsula

The wind was up and it was freezing cold but we were rewarded with a stunning sunset that turned the city od Seattle gold then pink.

Back home we walked into the house to find Christina had decorated it with batman decoration for Benaiahs birthday celebration. We had pizza and cake & BB had great night
