Day 1 of drive to Colorado - stayed Coeur d'Alene

Well it was sadly the end of the family holiday. Michael, Jane and Madi had flown back home and and Nick , Nathan and Taylor had hired a car and left this morning to drive down the coast to LA. Nathan and Taylor were flying home from there and Nick was staying in LA a few months until he met up with Madi in South America.

We left Maple Valley at 11am to the hysterical screams of Ezra crying for Papa. He apparently cried himself to sleep - he and Pap had really bonded this trip. It was heartbreaking to be leaving them all !

This was the start of our 3 day trip driving 2200 km - 1300 miles to take the car back to Denver Colorado. Stopped and had lunch at a diner in Moses in eastern Washington.

Started snowing around 3 pm outside Spokane and very soon we were driving on ice all the way into Idaho.

We stayed at the best Holiday Inn Express in Coeur d'Alene that provided free dinner and breakfast. We drove around to look at all the pretty Christmas decorations and lights in this lovely small old town that sits by a lake.

This place is stunning in Summer ( saw some photos) with lots of beautiful lakes.
