Medieval buildings of Hyderabad

The next morning we had some spare time to go sightseeing before our flight to Vijayawada.

After our yummy buffet breakfast we caught a taxi into the centre of the old town to visit the stand out towers of Charminar an iconic mosque with 4 minarets and arches. It is a beautiful building surrounding by bustling streets full of shops and traffic. It was built in 1591 and cost 100 rupee ( $2 AUD) to enter. What was funny as we walked around was that Leigh and I with blond hair were the tourist attraction with families crowding around us to take photos of us and with us...very funny.

Then we headed 11km out to the impressive hillside fortress/palace of Golconda Fort. It is a medieval fort and cost 100 rupees ( $2 AUD) to enter. It is huge and built on a hill over period of 62 years in 1518 for a king. The moat is 5 miles in circumference. There are many layers of fortifications and ruined buildings to wander around and explore. Enjoyed exploring it.

Back to the hotel to get our luggage and fly Air India to Vijayawada where we were met by Param and his wife and had fragrant flowers placed around our neck. They drove us to the hotel and will pick us up tomorrow to show us around all they are doing in nearby Tenali.

Our hotel and triple rom is very comfortable and has a nice restaurant downstairs.
