Travel Day to Prague by 3 trains

Up before 5am to give ourselves plenty of time to get ready and be out the door by 6am to walk to our tram stop and catch the tram to the train station.

Tickets cost 355.26PLN ($31.66 AUD)

We have 3 train journeys today Krakow to Katowiche 2 hours Katowice to Ostravia 1 1/2 hours Ostrava to Praha ( Prague) 3 hours

Our first train was so slow and stop for ages on the tracks resulting in us getting in late . Had a nice conversation with my hubby who called me on this train. Fortunately they held the train for the dozen of us who had the next connection and we only had to jump off and go across to the other side of the platform - no steps!

The next train also arrived in 15 minutes late at the same time our connection was due to leave. Thus time we had to run up an escalator and then down the steps on to our waiting train. Did not think we would make it! The last train has wifi and a restaurant car and a powerpoint to keep my phone charged and gave out free bottled water- nice!

We arrived into Prague late in the afternoon and as to get to the hostel required 2 metro rides and a tram ride and walk Mum decided we were getting taxi there. The taxi driver said it would be 800 CZK ( $46 AUD) but when I showed him something from the hostel saying to was only 300CZK it halved it to 400 CZK ( $23 AUD) Changed 100 E into CZK

Staying in a dorm in Arcapay Hostel. Love it ! It is in an old 16th century building with worn timber steps. I am on the 3rd floor in a 10 bed dorm. Has an amazing view over lesser town, sitsjust below the castle and is a 10 mins walk from Charles bridge.

It is a beautiful city set on the Vitava River on several hills topped with churches and castles

Prague's Old Town ( Stare Mesto). We are staying in the newer town. We wandered up to the castle above our hostel and then over the Bridge to the old town and saw the procession on the astronomical clock. Old Town Hall famous for its astronomical clock that on the hour every hour has the procession of the12 apostles who emerge from a small trapdoor.

Walking back over the crowded bridge I saw an interesting outdoor food stall where we bought our dinner and sat outside near the river to eat it .

Dinner 260 ( $15 AUD) halusky - ham , cabbage and potato bratwurst smoked ham On the way home stopped at grocery store near our hotel and bought some eggs to boil for breakfast the next few days.
