Downtown Calgary

Hung out at the Marriot until 3pm working and then we were driven downtown to check into the hostel (Cost $32 a night).

With clear skies since the snow it was the first time we had views of the mountains that were covered in fresh snow.

It was a bit hard to find as the they are renovating and there was no signage but it is in a good location in East Village- a new high rise residential area just 10 minutes walk to the Main shopping/restaurant area and right beside the railway station.

We are in a 6 bed female dorm and after dropping our luggage off we drove to park near Stephen Avenue and mall area. Madeleine told us that Calgary has the most expensive parking in the world - even higher than New York. I believed her after it cost $27 for 1 1/2 hours!!! We wandered around some shops and then ate Thai at the Rose Garden. Stephens Avenue walk is an intact turn of the century streetscape and looks very western with preserved old buildings and no high rise on this street but certainly all around it
