Day 29 - 20.1km

Walked the last 20 km with Dotti from Sydney and Hans from Holland. Walked through some lovely eucalyptus forests. There were a lot of people on the trail today . Bittersweet moment as we arrived into Santiago at 10.30am.

Booked in to an albergue called Estella on the road in for 10 euro- 1 km walk from the cathedral. We checked in and left our packs and headed in for the midday pilgrim service.

The cathedral was packed and the highlight of the service sis when they swing the bofumerie full of incense high above our heads . It takes 6 attendants on ropes to swing it almost up to the high ceiling. We sat in the cross (shorter part )of the nave so that it swung above our heads. An incredible moment. They don't do this every day so I was incredibly fortunate to have seen it twice

After the service Dotti and I found a nice bar siting outside in the sun where we sat with Stephen from Canada, Hans from Holland and Craig and Ryan from Canada and had some sangrias to celebrate. Later we joined another big group of people and went out for dinner. Went to the Pilgrims office to collect my compostela. The compostela cost 3 euros and tube 2 euros -get 2 certificates
