Arriving in France to start the camino fundraiser

Arrived into Paris airport early and had plenty of time to catch the bus over to ORLY airport to meet Nat & Trish. I caught the the Air France bus. #3 for 19 euros.

Checked in on our Air France flight to Biarritz $112 ( 1 hour flight) where we met up with Erin, Karen and Kathie who had ben travelling through France and Hilare who who been in Spain. We had pre - booked a taxi shuttle to take us all to St Jean. It was the Express Bourricot Taxi and cost 75 E between us all. The 8th passenger was a lovely man from Canada in his late 60's - Ian.

The 1 hour drive up through the mountains was a lovely drive and it was around 6pm by the time we arrived. We headed straight to the pilgrims office to register. There was no long lines at that time but the albergue accommodation had all gone so we had to find something ourselves. There was a place over the road saying they had 8 beds. We knocked & a grumpy lady who spoke no english shooed us away & told us to come back at 8.30pm. We said we were happy to check in then but could we secure the beds now. ...she refused ! We kept looking & found a place over the bridge still in the main cobble stoned street the pilgrim's office was in.

Our Canadian friend joined us in that room & we also met up with Hugh from the USA who we met while at the pilgrims office - we all went out for dinner after buying some breakfast supplies for the morning as we want to leave earlier than breakfast is served at the albergue. Enjoyed revisiting the lovely town of St Jean and exploring the steep hillside around the citadel.

Time to start our fund-raising walk for the SHE Rescue home - 8 of us from Australia, UK and the USA!
