Porto exploring by foot/bus and boat

Today was seeing Porto from every possible angle - it is such a stunning town with imposing old stone buildings, brightly painted buildings & tiled buildings, river, beaches and parks. The weather was perfect with blue skies to further show off and showcase the towns beauty

I joined the free walking tour from the hostel this morning which was fun and informative and took me to a couple of places I had not yet seen.

The most interesting was Leelo bookstore which had the most incredible carved staircase up to a mezzanine level. JK Rowling apparently wrote Harry Potter here in a local cafe & had lot of her inspiration while in Portugal. One place was this staircase in the bookstore & the black capes that university students wear in Portugal .

I did a hop on hop off bus tour for 20E which also included 50 minute boat ride up the Douro and a wine tasting. I don't early like port so decided to miss the wine tasting.

Called into the Information Centre who who really helpful in working out my train travel plans tomorrow to Coimbra & then on to Lisbon. To finish off the day I then did a boat ride up the river

I had booked in for a 3 course dinner at the hostel for 9 E and sangria on terrace. Nice local food and great away to meet people. After dinner I bumped into 2 people I had met on the camino, so was fun to catch up.
