Town and countryside walks

Helped out a little bit in the shop when they got busy and then had a 3 hour walk around town. Mum had left some notes and a route to follow but I coudlnt find the begnning but followed it about half way in.

At the top of Smith St is the arch of the town west gate and then down to the left is stuning Warwick Castle. I took Nathan there 7 years ago and we had a fabulous time there.

I walked down beautiful Mill St which is cobblestoned & lined with tudor houses that are covered in flowering wisteria...stunning. Down the bottom is Mill Garden which is someone's back garden which you pay 2 pound to go into. It was just beautiful backing on to the river with the ruins of a medieval bridge falling down and the best views back up on to the castle.

The flowers were stunning in every colour, Nothing is prettier than an english garden full of flowers and it had a slightly unkempt look which I just love. Lots of piccies and then up on to the bridge where you can get the best views of the castle.

Back around town I walked for the next few hours weaving around streets & reading Mum's notes on the history and architecture of each place. It was a beautiful sunny 18 degree day and I even got hot at times. Even though it was only 18 degrees it felt like 28 degrees!

At St Mary's church I climbed the 160 steps to the top. The view over the surrounding countyside was so prety especially all the fields of of bright yellow flower that are grown to get grape seed oil for cooking oil.

After seeing nearly every street I went back to Bread & Co for a yummy lunch of Croque Monsieur & then headed back out to the Post Office to mail some armbands. Loved seeing my first bluebells in the church yard.

Once the shop quietened down Stephen agreed to join me on an exploring walk around the countryside. He was afraid part of it may be too muddy so we shortened it from 5 miles (8 km) to a 6 km walk.

It was just a gorgeous day with blue sky as we followed the river and Grand Union Canal in a circuit around the outskirts of town. The first part along the river was through a grove of trees with white flowers. We passed one lock by a pub on the canal & lots of canal boats - thay are so skinny!

Had a lovely time catching up and walking in such pretty surounds. Stephen said I didn't draw breath the whole walk.

Went out to the bakery to pick up the bread that had been freshly baked & had a sundried tomato loaf which was amazing with a BBQ that was cooked in the lovely garden.

Lovely time with Stephen and Michelle that went too fast!!!
