Exploring this lovely city

Time off for half the day to explore the city. We started off walking down 4.5km to the White Tower to catch the hop on hop off bus for 7 E.

Weaving around the narrow streets we made our way to the top of the hill where we lunched yesterday by the Byzantine castle.

I got off at the Galerius Arch & Rotondo to look around and walk back to the hotel from here. The incredibly old is right next to the very new. I went inside Byzantine churches, walked cobblestoned streets and inside the Agia Sophia 9th century church. Walked through some old catacombs and had a lovely wander around town.

The Rotunda which started as a roman temple of Zeus built by Caesar Galerius is almost as old a as the Pantheon. Passed lots of trendy bars and coffee shop, around the Aristotle Square area. I wandered through traditional food markets with fish, pigs heads, fruit & veggies.

I then walked a couple of kilometres to the train station & bought train tickets to Kalambaka to vist Meteora tomorrow. We change trains once - it cost 26 E and will take us about 3 hours.

Sat in the restaurant under our hotel for the next few hours working & then walked down to the promenade at 7pm and sat in the sun on a cafe sidewalk watching the world go by.

Leigh & then went over to the Kitchen Bar where we ate last night & shared a chicken marsala meal for 14 E. All along this old wharf industrial pier are couples sitting right next to other people & totally having the most engrossed groping kissing we have ever seen We were having hysterics as this couple climbed in each others laps & were no more than 6 inches from 2 ladies sitting next to them who were chatting away like nothing was happening!
