City exploring and homeward bound

Got up at 7am and went to the lounge room where they provide breakfast. Was expecting tea and toast but it was cereal, juice, breads, eggs, meat, cheeses, tomato and yogurt. Never seen such a good brekkie at a hostel before. This hostel is excellent for location, cleanliness and local information.

Left at 8am to explore the city on foot as its only 15 minutes walk to the financial downtown and historic district. Frankfurt has a lot of new buildings as it was so bombed during world war 2. Romer square is beautiful with traditional German buildings of steep shingle rooves with no eaves, ornate prettily decorated buildings in different colors and turrets and spires.

Crossed over the river on an old pedestrian bridge and walked along the lovely tree lined river front on the other side before crossing back over on another bridge.

Sat on a park bench for awhile and the it started to rain so I found a Starbucks to hang out and have a hot chocolate.. Hope it stops soon as I am in my travel clothes and need to head back to the hostel to get my pack and go to the station to catch the train to the airport for 4.10 E ( only takes 15 mins) Plane now to Bangkok and to Oz!!!

Cost of my trip Flight $2500 Cash spent for 27 days 1190 E approx 44 E a day Credit card 400 E for flights and sleeping bag/ poncho
