Day 20 Valcarces to Sarria 36 km

Left at 6.30 am with my lovely roommates - 3 USA girls and a guy from Germany. Stunning scenery today as I crossed another mountain. Really steep uphill until 10 am. Had brekkie at La Faba and then we parted ways. Passed through glens and woods with rushing streams and stunning views over fields and mountains as I got higher.

Passed into the region of Galicia and the villages are very different - houses of thin rocks and slate rooves and smaller villages with cattle and rural smells.

At the top at the village of El Cebeiro we were above the clouds a d mountain tops below popped through the clouds like floating islands. Some buildings here had thatched rooves - very cute village.

Passed through several villages and local churches are tiny and no high spire that you see in the distance. In 2 churches I was able to climb up into the bell tower and touch the bells.

Lots of uphills as well as a long downhill. In one village I bought some raspberries which were yummy and yesterday had bought plums, apple and peach from a farm - all so good !

Reached the lovely village of Triacastela by 2.30 pm, picked up my backpack and organized a taxi to Sarria for 25 e. drove through the village of Samos where there is one of the worlds biggest monasteries. Saved me 18 km which unfortunately I had to do or I will not be able to attend the midday service for pilgrims in Santiago on Saturday.

Booked into Durminento private hostel for 10 e, paid another 10 E to get all my filthy clothes put through the washer and drier, got all my return flights changed and booked and went to a place called Lua where I got my e tickets printed. Had a wander through the old town ,had a pilgrims meal and ready for my massive next 2 days walking
