Walked for miles in this great city

Had breakfast of toast down in the basement and headed out about 9.30 am – beautiful day – sunny but cold. Today we walked for hours & miles & even though this is my 4th time to London seeing these sights they are just as impacting.

Walked down to Buckingham Palace , but the Changing of the Guard was on the next day. Looked at the beautiful Queen Victoria Monument opposite it. Headed to Westminster Abbey, but didn't go in as 13 pounds. Wandered past Big Ben and Houses of Parliament and heard Big Ben chime for 11 am. Stopped at Tesco and bought sandwiches and water for lunch – 3 pounds 80p ($9). Ate it on the riverside. Wandered by the River – opposite the London Eye. Huge but so slow.

Walked up to Trafalgar Square and saw Nelson’s Column.

Then to Covent Gardens where we listened to violinists. Past the impressive Law Courts, Savoy, Dorchester and wandered down the lanes around the Temple area up to St. Paul’s and then to Bank Station. Caught the tube to Piccadilly and walked up Regent Street to Hamley’s Toy Store. Nathan loved it of course and bought himself magic cards and a book for $10 ($23). Had fine snowfall from a blue sky – how weird! Walked past Liberty’s and caught train at Oxford Circus to Knightsbridge and went to Harrod’s .

Wandered around the food hall and clothes area. Dark now and caught train back to Victoria. Bought takeaway Fried Rice for 5 pounds 50p ($12) and took it to eat at Starbuck’s where we hung out till 7.30 pm when it closed. Went home for an early night.
