Day 14 Boadilla to Carrion de Los Condes 26.5 km

Easy day with lovely walk in the early morning alongside a canal the 6 km to Fromista. It was however freezing today and even with my jacket on I was so cold. I didn't take it off till 10am. Grabbed a hot chocolate to warm up at Poblacion de Campos and walked off leaving my poles and had to back track. Hadn't done that for a week.

Went on the longer scenic route through Villovieco along side a stream rather than beside the main road. Walked and talked with a polish girl until the town of Villacazar de Sirga. Looked inside the massive Templar church from the 13th century.

Arrived into Carrion de Los Condes at 11.30 am, a lovely town of 2,400.It was another 17 km to the next town so thought I should stay here and when I realized I had time to catch the bus today to Saghun I bought my ticket for 5 e leaving at 12.50 pm. I lined up with the others outside the hostel I had organized to have my bag sent on to and it opened its doors at midday. Unfortunately my bag did not arrive in time so I had to stay on. Lovely hostel run by nuns who checked us in for 5 E. One spoke good English and walked us individually to our beds.

Wandered around town and a kilometer out of town to San Zoilo monastery and church from the 11 th century. Part of it is now a hotel and the the cloisters are very peaceful and beautiful with a well in the centre. Has a love.y high stone bridge over the the river which is shallow and fast flowing. Changed my plans a hundred times this afternoon on how I can save time to get home earlier and still walk as much as possible and nothing working out. Tried to walk 20 km tomorrow and then catch a bus on to Saghon or Leon but not possible . In the end booked a bus tomorrow afternoon at 12.50 pm again going to Leon for 10 E. annoying because I can't walk in the morning and have all day available. Oh well ..will just have to go with it and at least I miss the next couple of days of long boring stretches with no shade or villages to pass through.

Ended up bumping into Patrick and Donna and had dinner with them. Went to the musical meeting with a dozen others from the albergue that the nuns organized where some songs were sung and then everyone shared their reason for doing the camino. A few cried as they shared so it was very moving. Afterwards went to mass at the church next door.

Went to say goodbye to to the " blue shirts" a cute Spanish couple who speak. I English but I have stayed at the same places for probably the last week as them and often bumped into during the day. They were so sweet and had taken me under their wing often chatting to me in Spanish and trying to teach me!!! They would offer me their food and always did out where I was walking to th next day. I said goodbye and thanked them for their kindness as I won't see them anymore. She jumped up and gave me. Big hug and kiss on both cheeks and so did he.....early made me cry !!!! Will be strange not seeing familiar faces on the camino as going to Leon means I will meet a whole new group of people.
