Bike Riding in Bangkok Countryside

Stayed last night at the Novotel & was picked up at 8am by Spice Roads Cycle to do the Bangkok Countryside Ride. There was a Jewish Family from the USA already in the van who were travelling by ship for 6 months.

We drove about an hour out of town before getting on our bikes & riding through very flat country passing villages, farms & rivers. It was very hot but great getting off the beaten track. We stopped off at an orchid farm& rice fields & were shown how the rice stalks bow when they are ready for harvesting.

The most fascinating sight was stopping off to watch how they herded hundreds off ducks into a truck by guiding them into a fenced area & then up a gangplank.

Stopped at a local Thai restaurant for a great lunch. The afternoon finished with a longtail boat ride down a canal ending in a Muslim village & school.

They dropped me back to the airport in plenty of time to get the 6pm flight to Phnom Penh where I went for a week to work
