Motorbiking the countryside & relaxing by the pool

Had a buffet breakfast overlooking the jungle clad hills out to the ocean and loved having crepes with lime and sugar.

We left at 8.30 am for 5 hours of riding our 125 step through bikes. Would have ridden about 100km and when we arrived home 5 hours later it felt like it - sore bum, sore shoulders but fun. Brad was incredibly patient at my slow speed compared to what he does at home. Top speed today was 60km an hour but most comfortable at 40km hour on the bad sections Roads today were worse than yesterday especially the section from the whte Horse roundabout to Kampot - really bad!!! Full of potholes, gravel & very narrow!!!

Countryside was pretty and rural life in Cambodia is always interesting - oxen or ponies pulling carts , water buffalo & people walking and riding with a huge assortment of wares. Political parties were out in force gearing up for the election on Sunday - hundreds of people in the white shirts with white caps and blue flags in conoys of motorbikes and trucks with a few range rovers at the end. They had speakers blaring but unlike the ones I had seen in Phnom Penh did not have flat screen TV's on the trucks.

First off headed to Kampong Trach a busy little market town where we had to turn left up a dirt track opposite the sign saying Acleda Bank. Love directions in Cambodia - no signs saying to the cave!!!

We were soon joined by a couple of teenagers offerring to be our guides to the cave. Cost us $1 each to go to the cave & $1 for the guides. Not a very exciting cave so we headed off towards Kampot and had to turn off another dirt track 1.5km after the white horse roundabout under a pagoda arch. This was the White elephant cave i had visited with Leigh a few years ago, but we weren't taken through the narrow parts I had gone through that time. Brad hated the cave experience ( hot and sweaty experience and lots of steps up to the entrance!) so off we went to Kampot . It was midday by the time we got there so the sun was really hot and I was exhausted travelling on this very bad section of the road as you had to concentrate so much. I nearly came off after I followed Brad overtaking a motorbike carrying big baskets and went straight into a massive pot hole. Thought I was a goner but managed to not fall off!!

Went to Rikitivi a lovely upstairs open timbered restaurant by the river where we had a cold coke and had a little rest before driving the 30 km back. Several times we had to just go off road when a car would be overtaking another car and coming towards us a on a stretch of road barely wide enough for 2 cars and so we, being the smallest on the road had to bail onto the dirt sides!!!!

Got home at 1.30pm and just jumped into the beautiful pool....water never felt so good after being hot, dusty and exhausted!!! I hung there until 3.30pm when I was booked in for my free 20 minute welcome massage and also booked myself in for a mango body wrap!!!

Yep you guessed it ...we went back to Kimleys for dinner again!!!
