Big day of exploring

Day 2

Well discovered about the lights. People put them on when they come home – midnight, 2 am … etc. They went on & noise was to be had, but didn't stay on too long!! So tired I went straight back to sleep

Slept in & left about 9.30am.Had the best day walking for miles around the city. Love the contrast of big modern buildings, wide tree lined streets, old colonial buildings, alleys & lanes of Little India & Chinatown with Chinese shopfronts in all their different colours & colourful hindu & chinese temples. AND of course the fooid in Singapore is so varied, yummy & cheap so tasted my way around Singapore in all the different districts!!

Little India - loved the smells & sights & colour of the alleys, markets & yummy indian food

Harbourside - big nodern shopping centres. Caught the train - easy & fast

Sentosa Island Caught a bus over to the island & it is has a Disneyland feel to it. Beaches, rides, free hop on hop off tram across trhe island, piped music & beautifully clean. Had a go on the Eco Drive - this wierd scooter type thing with 2 wheels & as you lean forward it starts to go & leaning back stops it. Next had 2 goes on the Luge for $16. Went up on the chairlift & had a great view over the island & saw how many ships are moored waitingto get into the port. The luge downhill was fun!!

Chinatown - Colorful & bright, full of markets & food & chinese red lanterns acxross the streets. Did a walk in the local area up winding inviting alleys neding exploring, through little parks & beautiful old buildings. One minute you are crossing a major busy road & the next in this cute backstreet with nice cafes & little parks & no traffic or noise! Lots of little hidden gems.

Clarks Quay - Train to here & walked around the developed restaurant/shopping area along the Quay where all the old shophouses have bneen done up. Caught a bun boat up the river & past the Colonial District fiull og parks & lovely buildings. Went to the merlion staue spurting water which is thew symbol of Singapore - a lion & a fish

Back to the Hostel about 8.30pm after grabbing some pratas in little India for dinner for $1!! Met Helen from Holland who had the bunk below me & invited me out for cocktails with her. Was exhausted & sdaid no but invited her to join me tomorrow for the bicycle ride around Palay Ubin Island. She said yes so that will be fun to have some company tomorrow

Good nights sleep - no late comers or lights on tonight!!!
