Lazy Day & Travelling Night

Woke up this morning to this loud banging that went on for ages. Had a shower & went downstairs to investigate, out the dor down the alley & into another alley to the main riad & there it was... people letting off firecrackers on the road!!! I asked back at reception why there was firecrackers & she sais" someone is celebrating something!!" Also discovered that the other day on our bike ride - after leaving a village sounded like gunfire & again it was crackers. The guide said it was to celebrate the completion of building a house!

Rest day today as we have our last 3 days being full on with travel & late nights & early mornings. Nath to sleep until 11.30am . After he had breakfast/lunch I left him watching a DVD at the Hostel & went for a manicure & pedicure. Got it for 110 Y ( $20 AUS) Not as cheap as Cambodia but better than Australian prices.

Did some research on Guangzhou & how to get a shuttle to the airport tomorrow night & what to do there during the day tomorrow. Got some phrases written in chinese that may help me in in getting our luggage stored etc

Met 2 Polish girls today & one was telling me how she was robbed on the little local bus between Guilin & here they caught the other day ( same as we took) She was sitting next to the window with her backpack jammed between her leg & the wall. She felt nothing but 1 hour later on arrival she discovered her bag had been cut open & her money stolen. They must of laid on the floor behind her seat & cut it open but they felt or heard nothing & her bag was touching her leg the whole time! Good reminder to be vigilant as you can start to get comfortable & let your guard down.

If you are ever travelling in China ALWAYS have toilet paper on you as not even all the hostels supply toilet paper & definately not in public toilets. Also get good at holding your breath for the bad smells!

Waiting for Naths movie to finish & we will go & hop on that same bus back to Guilin. Bag will be on my lap! Will go back to our last hostel & re-pack our bags that we left there & hang out till 8pm when we will walk over to the station for our 10 hour train ride.
