Rafting down the Li River

Left at 9am & caught a bus to the village of Yangdi, where we boarded a raft with seats & roof for shade. Weather turned cool today & cloudy & had to wear my rain poncho to try & keep warm.

Went down this beautiful stretch of the river betwen Yangdi & Xianping ( Shanping) for the next 2 hours. Beautiful clear water & you could see the bottom of the river ( not deep at all), past massive bamboo forests, water buffalo swimming in the river & the soaring cliffs of the karst mountains.

Then there was the milions of tourist boats & sellers with freezers & computers on rock banks in the middle of the river. Such a contrast!!!

Arriving at Xingping we got a tuk tuk to the nearby town. Wandered down an old pedestrian alley & found somewhere to eat.

Caught a crowdwd bus back to Yangshuo for 51/2 yuan each.

Nath was so excited to find a lolly shop & stock p. One of the things you notice in China is that stores have the loudest music blaring out on speakers on the footpath to get attention & if there is a few of them they are all competing!!

We had a lazy afternoon & night at the hostel, watching DVD's & eating dinner there.
