Rainy Day & Winding Roads to Lao Cai

Lazy rest day in Sapa. Went out for breakfast & to use the internet over the road to Highlands Bakery & left Nath to sleep till 11.30am. Had my favourite baguette & cream cheese for breakfast before waking Nath & checking out at midday.

Wandered around town in light rain for an hour or so. Lots of markets & sellers & steep narrow streets, guesthouse & restaurants. Would have like to do the 3km walk to Cat Cat today but not in the rain. Actually my legs particularly my hips & shins are still sore from the trek yesterday & going up & down the hills.

Sat in Highlands Bakery for the rest of the day – time passes so past!!! Talked to some Aussies & English who had just come from China & they shared their horror toilet & bus trip stories!!Caught 5pm mini bus from our hotel to Lao Cai. The road seemed windier & more hair pinned than the ride here a few days ago & I could feel my stomach telling me it was not happy. Grabbed Nathans crackers & ate half the packet till I felt better. Dropped off at the train station & there were plenty of guesthouses and restaurants around this lively area. Checked out a few guesthouses & on the third one got him down to $7 for the room for the night. It was a pretty dodgy room but we have to leave by 6.30am so will only be there to sleep. I was trying to wash my hands in the bathroom & screamed when I turned on the tap as the water came out of the shower & sprayed my shoulder & back. Not what I was expecting. Went out for dinner & ordered my usual "coca" - they don't understand coke or coca cola but everyone calls it " coca"

Have had a great 3 weeks in Vietnam, excited to see China now!
