Temples & shopping

Brad and Nick called at 6 am and woke us up. They were camping at Crescent Head for Nick's birthday weekend. Brad had whistled to Hunter on the headland and he jumped into 4’ surf and swam out to Nick and tried to get on his board. Nick had to bring him in on the board and cut his feet on the rocks. Nathan went back to sleep till 10 am! Think the last 12 days has caught up with him.

After Nathan’s big sleep-in we didn’t set off until 11 am. We bought a Skytrain day pass for 100B each. We went back to the river and caught a ferry up to Pier 8 again to visit the Grand Palace and Wat Pho. Grand Palace was closed for a couple of hours so we missed that but went to Wat Pho which has this massive reclining gold Buddha in a temple. It is 50 ft. long and its feet are inlaid with mother of pearl. We then went to the massage school at the Wat but there was a 30 min. wait so didn’t worry about it. We wandered around some market streets and saw fish out on cars drying. Don’t understand how the lack of refrigeration thing works! Caught a ferry back and then Skytrain to National Stadium where we went to MBK Shopping Centre. Great shops and so many levels. Never seen so many mobile phones – had a whole level. Nathan had Maccas for lunch and me Japanese and a McFlurry. He has got me onto Choc Orea McFlurry – so yummy and bad.

Bought me a belt 200B, Michael – black Converse 600B ($21) and Nathan brown Converse 860B ($30). Caught train to Siam and went to Siam Centre and bought Nathan white Converse with flap 1050B and Nick blue with flap. We caught the Skytrain home to leave our shopping and walked down to a Maccas near Asok station. We then looked in a Robinson store and caught the train back to Nana. By now it was 9 pm so I ordered a Pad Thai at Galley 11 next to Suk II. Such good food. Cost 115B. Then walked down to our massage place. Love the beginning where we sit on cushions and put our feet in stone sinks and they wash and dry them and then we wear slippers upstairs. We paid 300B each for head and shoulders and arms. It was great. It finished at 10.45 pm so we wandered home and into bed.
