Hair Catastrophe & being the Cyclo Driver

Beck, Cathy & I went for a hairwash & straighten at Rosa's before church & it turned into a hair catastrophe for Cathy. With the massage they totally knotted her hair & extensions into this enormous mass!! I have never seen a knot like it & Cathy was so brave in holding back the tears. We thought for sure it would have to be cut out & she would lose this big chunk of hair. She stopped them working on it as they were making it worse & managed to tear most of it apart & they cut the rest apart with a razor. So much for the relaxing head massage for Cathy & she had to go off to church with wet hair!!!!

After church we headed for lunch at the Boddhi Tree restaurant which is opposite Tuol Sleng ( Genocide Museum). It is this lovely leafy oasis opposite such a grim reminder of Cambodias past. Nath and the guys visited it after eating & then we went by tuk tuk out to the KIlling Field.

Then off to the river front to check out the tourist areas and we couldn't believe how many times we got offered drugs . We walked back to the local markets of 13th Street where we all hailed a cyclo who rode us to the post office.

For the return trip we asked the driver if he would be the passenger and we be the driver. Now, this is not a nice quiet street but has sooo much traffic!! Sitting up on the cyclo is very high and brake is lever behind your seat & it is really weird trying to brake this way, I could never find it when I needed to slow down at intersections .

The drivers who were now in the passenger seat were freaking out sitting on the edge of the seats and signalling us & the oncoming traffic to slow down. The people around watching as this bunch of westerners rode the driver down this busy local street full of cars, markets, motorbikes was hilarious. We were pointed, laughed at and were the centre of attention as we navigated the cyclo through the busy street.

We met up with the guys that went to Siem Reap for the day & had dinner at the Garden Bar. Afterwards we walked a couple blocks down to the Night markets which were not that exciting before heading home to pack to go away tomorrow,
