Lots of Welsh Castles

Chester - 6/3/82 - rained all day

Had Continental breakfast in bed. All told cost 59 pounds. Walked around castle grounds and found dungeon with moat around. Drove through Denbigh and Rhuddlan - saw ruined castle by river. Went to Rhyle, large beach resort with heaps of entertainment by beach. Drove through Colwyn Bay to Conwy. Lovely little town on estuary. Had hot pot for lunch in pub. Visited castle which is enormous. Walked around battlements and up in towers - lovely views. Bought some things in Welsh craft shop. Town has city walls. Drove across Menai Bridge to Isle of Anglesey and drove across island to Holyhead. Not terribly pretty. Drove back to Beaumaris to see castle - magnificent castle with moat and water around it. Enormous. Best castle we have seen with swans in the moat. Drove right across Wales - Bethesda, Betws-y-Coed, Licngollen and up to Chester. Arrived just after dark. Found nice black and white timbered place in town for 5 pounds 50 each. Went to Chinese restaurant for dinner.
