Madame Tussauds & Covent Gardens

London - 24/2/82 - Cold and foggy 1 degree

Caught train to Green Park and walked to Buckingham Palace. Very cold and misty. Changing of Guards not on, only every 2nd day. Thought we saw Lady Di get out of her car at palace.

Walked up the Mall to Admiralty Arch at Trafalgar Square and had hot chocolate. Caught train to Madame Tussaud's - heaps of people but very good. So often thought people were real. Chamber of Horrors good - re-created old London Street. Cost 2 pounds 75 each.

Caught train to Covent Gardens and looked around markets. People playing instruments really good. First of all 3 guys playing medieval instrument and music and made you feel like getting up and dancing. Then 2 violinists who were good. Sat there for ages listening and ate hot baked potato. Beautiful stalls selling very high standard crafts. Love the way people sing and play in tube subways.

Went shopping at Oxford Street. Brad bought sports coat and me divine skirt and top. Caught tube home and got caught for using our expired pass. Met Lynelle and Jo at Old Swan Inn 6.30 and had some dinner. Caught train to Fulham Broadway and went to Golden Lion pub. Sort of punk hangout and felt very out of place, but great watching the people who were all locals and knew each other. At 10 pm band started to play and they were UNREAL. Atmosphere of place so good. Everyone just stopped and watched band, singing and dancing. Band called HOLLYWOOD KILLERS - so good. Played until 11 pm. Caught train home and while waiting at Notting Hill Gate this black guy singing and swearing all about racism and arguing with some Americans.
